About Us

Nawroz University (NU) was established in 2004 as the first private academic institution in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Over the past 21 years, NU has made remarkable progress in academic development, becoming a respected institution among both public and private universities in the region. Despite its modest beginnings, NU quickly expanded and developed programs aligned with the needs of the KRI’s evolving job market.


Currently, NU offers bachelor’s degrees in nearly 20 academic programs across seven colleges:

To date, nearly 12,000 students have graduated from Nawroz University. NU continues to pursue academic excellence through scientific research that addresses societal needs and market demands. The university maintains a policy of openness and builds strategic partnerships with both local and international institutions to help create a sustainable educational environment in Iraq, particularly in the KRI.
