Symposium on the Role of Kurdish Linguists in Preserving National Identity
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the College of Languages at Nawroz University, under the supervision of Dean Dr. Ameen Abdulqader Omar, organized an international symposium titled "Language and Kurdish Nationalism: The Role of Kurdish Linguists and Scholars."
The event began with the Dean highlighting the contributions of Kurdish writers and academics in the diaspora. This was followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Jaafar Sheikh Al-Islami from Carleton University, Canada, who discussed the characteristics of the Kurdish language and its pivotal role in preserving Kurdish national identity. He also addressed the areas that require focused efforts to safeguard national identity through language.
